THE BLUES MAMA
A blues performer in the tradition of Bessie Smith, Alberta Hunter and Gladys Bentley, the world-weary BLUES MAMA has just walked out on her starring gig on the T.O.B.A. circuit and returned to the small club where she started her career. She wants to make one last grandstand and sing all the songs that made her career before she makes a dramatic, and timely, change in her life.

The REVUE MAMA sings, dances and gets down and dirty with her audience. A speakeasy performer in the tradition of Texas Guinan, our REVUE MAMA is a force to be reckoned with! In charge of her own show and club, she is also dependent upon Prohibition for her business. Tonight might be her last performance…starting tomorrow, the audience doesn’t have to come to her for booze. Will they come back for her and her music?

The BIG BAND MAMA is a young woman, stepping away from a mundane life to live her dream - in fact, this is her first big performance! We see her transformation from an inexperienced, wide-eyed novice to a true pro, commanding the stage with the best of them. Like the young Ella Fitzgerald’s beginnings, we see a young talent at the very start of a great career.
